Tambov resident Roman Berg is a disabled person of the first group, has been living since birth with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. He was born in 1984, grew up in a foster family, buried elderly guardian parents, about whom he speaks warmly. In professional sports Roman got by chance: he was looking for ways to earn money. For five years, he rose to the international class master of sports in sledge hockey. Sledge hockey is a team sports game on ice, an analogue ice hockey for people with disabilities. Also Roman — two-time Russian champion, European champion 2016, silver medalist Alternative Paralympic Games 2018. He acted as a goalkeeper under the surname Peryshkov, which was inherited from biological parents.

In 2023, Roman lives in his native city Tambov with his wife Svetlana and son Danya. Sports career completed four years ago. Engaged in business not related to sports. However, sledge hockey did not leave his life. Roman established the first in the Tambov region children’s and youth sledge hockey team “Volchata”. Training there is free. “You know, everything I did — Roman thoughtfully twists his son’s pacifier in his hands — I just wanted to be ordinary, a normal person. Have your own home and family.”
