It is customary in our country to have children. The state hints at this legislatively. Society is not far behind either. A woman who has not become a mother by the age of 30 hears about “ticking clocks” and other thematic statements of close and distant relatives, colleagues, friends, and sometimes unfamiliar people. In a separate group, we will single out employers who are suspicious of childless married women and are informed about a possible decree even at the interview.
A woman is not always ready to voice her position regarding childbearing. Some make a conscious choice to be childless. Not everyone is ready to share such views, just as not everyone is ready to accept such a point of view.
“Tick-tock” is a series of home portraits of women over thirty. They don’t need pity or close attention. They want to silently manage their body and time, without feeling anxiety, shame, aggression and pressure from the outside. Some of them are in relationships, some are not. In the process of shooting, I deliberately do not ask questions to the heroines about their current childlessness. They will tell you if they need to.
